Privacy policy

This policy explains how the CAETEC Home Electrics Android app (package caetec.electrics.app, version 1.0.0) handles information. In short: everything you enter stays on your phone. We do not run servers for the app, and we do not collect, receive or sell your data.

1. Who we are

CAETEC Home Electrics is an organiser for the electrical records of UK homes and rented properties. You can contact us about privacy at [email protected].

2. Information you enter in the app

To be useful, the app lets you record:

  • property details — a name, address, postcode, year built and notes;
  • details of the electrical installation — consumer unit, circuits, sockets, lights, alarms and appliances;
  • inspection and work records — dates, results, inspector or company names, certificate numbers and costs;
  • issues you notice and your observations about them;
  • optionally, tenant details — name, phone number, email address and tenancy dates;
  • photos and documents you choose to attach, such as reports, certificates and invoices;
  • app settings such as the colour theme.

This information is saved in the app’s private storage on your device. Attached photos and files are copied into that private storage so they stay available if the originals are moved. The app does not send any of it to us or to anyone else.

3. What we collect

Nothing. The app has no account or sign-in, no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising and no advertising ID, and it makes no network requests to us or to third parties. Fonts and all other resources are built into the app.

4. When information leaves your phone

Only when you decide to send it, using Android’s own screens:

  • sharing a text summary of a property or an issue through the share sheet;
  • creating a PDF report and sharing, saving or printing it;
  • exporting a backup file and choosing where to save or send it;
  • opening an attached file in another app to view it.

You choose the destination (for example an email app, cloud storage or a printer). What happens next is governed by that service’s own privacy policy. Tenant details are only included in a PDF report if you switch that section on.

5. Permissions

The app does not ask for any runtime permissions. Photos are chosen with the Android photo picker and documents with the system file picker, which give the app access only to the items you select. The app does not use the camera, microphone, location, contacts or notifications.

6. Keeping and deleting your information

Your records stay on your device until you delete them. You can delete individual records, delete a whole property together with its attached files, or remove everything under Settings → Delete all data. Uninstalling the app also removes all of its data. Android’s automatic cloud backup is turned off for this app, so your records are not copied to a cloud backup by the system. Backup files you export yourself are kept wherever you saved them until you delete them.

7. Tenant information

If you are a landlord and record details about your tenants, you are responsible for handling that information lawfully, for example under UK data protection law. Record only what you need to manage the tenancy.

8. Children

The app is intended for adults managing their homes and properties. It is not directed at children.

9. Security

Your data is protected by your phone’s own security, such as the screen lock and device encryption. Because we never receive your data, there is no copy of it held by us.

10. Changes to this policy

If the app starts handling information differently, this page will be updated before that version is released, and the date above will change.
